Man, I Don't Want To Go Bald - What Can I Do?

ByJerry Cash

For both male and female alike, losing your hair can be like losing your crown. Being bald as a preference is okay, but it's not okay if it happens naturally. That's right...losing ones hair is a natural occurrence. Although losing your self image because of balding is not something that any one wants.

Normally we lose some of our hair everyday. We shed about 50 - 100, on average, everyday. But they always grow back, and you maintain overall the same amount of hair. We can consider someone to have a thinning hair problem when that average is over-exceeded, and the rate of new hair growth doesn't seem to be able to cope with the number that we lose.

So, What Causes Hair Loss

There are quite a number of things that might cause one to lose your crown. Factors for both males and females are slightly different from each other. The following are cause factors general for anyone: aging, genes (genetically inherited from the father, the mother, or both), medical condition (some drugs can cause the hair follicles to die, thus the condition), extreme hairstyle/hair treatment products, surgery, hormones, and certain diseases and/or treatments for these diseases.

For males, you can expect thinning hair to occur at around 50 years old, or as early as late teens. And about 65% of men will show obvious signs of thinning hair by the age of 60.

For females, hair loss might start happening at around the late 20's. With an increased risk as they continue to age. By the time they reach menopause, thinning hair can be much more noticeable.

Hair Loss Treatments

If you feel that you're experiencing hair loss, you need not to worry. There are many options available for you, each comes with different advantages and disadvantages. Just choose one which would suit your needs, and you could easily regain a full head of hair. It's important to note: you need to address your thinning hair problem, before you are actually bald! In other words...prevention is key.

First, we have the topical hair loss treatment. Basically what this treatment does is to stimulate more normal hair growth, by using shampoos or conditioners. If you're still in the early stages of thinning hair, this option would suit you best. Furthermore, it won't cost you a lot of money. However, depending on what is causing your hair loss, this treatment might not solve anything.

Second, we have the surgical hair loss treatment. Thanks to the advances of the medical world, hair grafting can be as small as a single hair, which makes it possible to create a very natural looking hairline. It is only recommended that you take this treatment if it is very clear that you're experiencing baldness. Otherwise you might be spending too much money on something that you could actually treat with something less cheaper.
