How to Repair Damaged Hair Naturally

ByNoland Clark

Your obsession with hairstyles can damage your hair if you do not take proper care of your delicate tresses. Overuse of hair colors, blow dryers, straighteners or curling irons removes the natural oil and damages the hair follicle and ruff shaft. And when you stand in front of a mirror, you become absolutely distraught to see the frizzy, entangled mass of hair.

However, regardless of the severity of the hair damage, it is not too difficult to repair the damaged hair. There are several options for restoring the natural appearance of your tresses.

Hot oil treatment

Hot oil treatment is the most effective and quickest fix for damaged hair. You can pick up a hair oil of a reputed brand from your neighborhood store or you can warm olive, coconut or almond oil and it use it for nourishing the hair. Apply a generous amount of oil to your scalp and hair shafts. Gently massage the scalp to boost blood circulation. This helps to increase secretion of natural oil. Leave the oil on your hair overnight, and in the morning wash your ruff with a mild shampoo. Remember to use a conditioner after rinsing your hair.

Use a hair pack

Your damaged mane can be healed with a suitable hair pack. The ingredients in the ruff packs nourish, soothe and lubricate the scalp and the ruff. You can pamper your damaged tresses with mayonnaise. Mashed banana, honey, egg yolk, avocado and yogurt are common components in recipes for treating damaged ruff. If overuse of ruff styling products had damaged the hair follicles, the irritated scalp can be soothed with aloe vera gel or vitamin E. Spread the ruff pack all over your hair and scalp, and after 15 or 20 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly.

Herbal remedies for damaged hair

Hair growth will suffer if the ruff follicles are damaged by chemicals or heat. Herbal remedies are often effective in repairing the damaged hair follicles. Herbs such as sage, burdock, rosemary, nettle, peach leaf, Indian gooseberry, henna and curry leaves are widely recommended in folk medicines for fixing hair problems. Prepare a decoction by boiling the herbs in coconut or olive oil, and apply it to the scalp daily.

Nutrition

External application of hair care products is not sufficient for treating the damaged hair. To improve hair growth, the hair follicles need specific nutrients that can be provided through a healthy diet. To accelerate the hair repair process your diet should contain sufficient healthy proteins, vitamins A, C and E, biotin, choline, pantothenic acid, inositol, zinc and omega-3 fats.
